CITY OF SOUTHAMPTON WATER POLO CLUB
CITY OF SOUTHAMPTON WATER POLO CLUB
Firstly, we're always keen to attract new players of any gender or background, aged over 13 years. We have a men's A team but also arrange B team fixtures involving juniors and ladies.
The men's A team competes in the Hampshire league along side teams such as Basingstoke, Weymouth + Portland, Bournemouth, Andover, Southampton University and Portsmouth. We also compete in the South East Regional league against teams such as Jersey, Cranleigh, Worthing and Oxford. In additional to these league games we're always keen to arrange friendly games, especially during pre-season and leading up to important league games; opponents range from the British Army, Frome, Reading and London-based teams.
If you're new to the area and looking for a team to join or you're a competent swimmer and would like to know more about our sport please get in touch. Alternatively, if you're looking to arrange a friendly game then contact details are included below.
We train on Tuesday nights at the Quays Leisure Centre near the docks in Southampton City Centre. We use the all-deep diving pool for our training sessions and B team games but use the main pool for A team home games. Training runs from 7:30pm until 9pm.
You will need to be a member of the ASA and the City of Southampton Swimming Club to train and play for us; this is usually about £22 per month. This mostly covers pool hire costs, equipment, lifeguards, referee costs etc. This figure can vary if you are a student or a junior player. Junior players should be 14 or older. Once a member of the swimming club there are other training facilities that are available to you, more information on lane swimming sessions can be found on the
City of Southampton S.C. Website.
We're particularly keen to hear from ladies who are interested in the sport as we're actively trying to set up a ladies team and dedicated female-only training session within the club
NOTE: The sport requires a certain level of basic fitness; as a rough guide, you should be able to swim at least 200m continuously in a time of 3 minutes 30 seconds or less.
If you'd like to find out more, please get in touch using the contacts page.
